Tara Arolla is La Costa Canyon High’s all-time leading scorer in two sports. She’ll go down as the Mavericks’ finest offensive force in both field hockey and lacrosse, a titanic feat in programs with such distinguished alumni.
Arolla has been named the North County Times’ Female Athlete of the Year by the NCT prep staff. “It’s really strange that I’m being recognized for things I’ve done,” said Arolla, who will attend California on a lacrosse scholarship. “I’m so honored. I’m really thankful for all I’ve been given, but it is a little strange to talk about all these individual honors when I’ve always been driven by team success.”
“It’s great to see her recognized in such a way,” LCC lacrosse coach Katie Dolan said. “Tara’s such an incredible athlete that she could take over a game at any time. She’s superior to most of the competition, but she has no ego. Tara’s one of the most humble, modest players I’ve ever been around. Sometimes, I have to remind her of how good she is.”
