and the OC Crush. A classic North/South showdown, QC hails from the Ranch Bernardo area and is coached by former UMBC defender Travis Begay, while the OC Crush is comprised mainly of Foothill HS players coached by Nick Pickell. The count is 4-1 in favor of the Crush as we’re underway in the second half. The first draw is contested heavily by QC’s Brennan O’Malley ( Rancho Bernardo 13’) before being scooped up by LSM Nicholas McEneany (Rancho Bernardo 12’). The first two possessions are a bit sloppy, as we have some quick turnovers of both offensive ends. OC Crush finds themselves with possession until Nicholas McEneany makes a nice takeaway at the GLE and clears the ball up field. Quad Cities settles the ball on offense, and makes a nice save to the crease that is thwarted from a low save from OC Crush goalie Teddy Ochia. A stellar riding effort from QC rewards them with another possession as OC Crush overturns the ball in their defensive end. In the ensuing possession, a QC attackmen forces a feed to the crease that is tipped backwards into their own net. A bit of a right time right place scenario for Quad Cities as the score is now 4-2. With momentum on their side, Quad cities again looks to strike again off the draw, but an errant pass results in a fast-break for the OC Crush. The Crush’s attack sets up in textbook-break fashion but is stopped on the doorstep by QC goalie Caleb Pyrle (Rancho Bernardo 12’) who makes a tremendous low-to-high save. After an athletic out of goal scrambling effort, QC’s Caleb Pryle is called for failure to advance giving possession back to the Crush. In formation, a Crush attackmen draws an early slide from X before dishing to attackmen Connor Herrell (Foothill 13’) for the easy score putting the OC Crush up by two late in the half. The Crush waste no time off the ensuing draw as midfielder Colin Cummins (Foothill 13’) capitalizes off an outside rip at the top of the box with just over two minutes remaining. With the two minute drill in effect, the Crush are recipient to some good pressure-D from Quad Cities and promptly take an ill-advised shot giving Quad Cities the final possession. Abbot Pratt (Rancho Bernard 12’) goes down swinging as he comes around from X and dunks the ball low on the Crush goalie.

Final Score: OC Crush 9, Quad Cities 6
