The “Duel in Denver” is a rematch of the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship gold-medal game, in which Team USA defeated Canada, 12-10, in Manchester, England, and it serves as a prelude to the 2014 FIL World Championships, which will be hosted by US Lacrosse in Denver, July 10-19, 2014. The U.S. and Canada have met in the championship game of the last four FIL World Championships. US Lacrosse has announced that midfielder Joe Walters (Maryland ’06/Hamilton Nationals) has been added to the U.S. men’s national senior team roster for the “Duel in Denver.” The addition of Walters rounds out the 25-player Team USA squad that will face Team Canada Sept. 8, 2012, in a 7:00 p.m. (Mountain time) exhibition game at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. Walters, the Nationals’ all-time leading scorer, was a member of the silver medal-winning 2006 U.S. men’s national team and the 2009 U.S. men’s national training team. In his third season with Hamilton, Walters currently ranks first on the Nationals and fourth in the MLL in scoring with 42 points.
