Lacrosse Photography: Zach Heffner Of “Verdict Digital” Raising Funds For Lacrosse Injury

You may not have ever met Zach Heffner, but you know him through his work. Whether it be his photo and video work for Easton Lacrosse, US Lacrosse Magazine Cover Shots, editorial shots for Inside Lacrosse Magazine or his playing years: National Champion at UVA, a pro player in the MLL, NLL or his stint on the Bronze Medal winning 2007 US National Indoor Team, somewhere you’ve come into contact with him or his work…and he needs your help!

In the process of training for a possible LXM comeback, Zach suffered a devastating injury to his knee early this June while playing lacrosse. Needing major surgery to reconstruct his ACL, MCL, PCL and both meniscus, Zach went under the knife for a pretty routine procedure.

In the following weeks, a still unidentified infection forced Zach back under the knife 3 more times and put a definite end to his athletic career and also threatened to close the doors of his company, Verdict Digital.

Without being able to work and with the medical bills piling up, Zach and the Verdict Crew are reaching out to the lacrosse community for help. Before they shut down Zach’s company, the Verdict Crew is hoping to raise enough money to pay off his medical bills from the extra surgeries so they can  keep on helping lacrosse gain exposure through their work.

Paying homage to Zach’s first words once the anesthesia wore off, the Verdict Crew designed a tee-shirt with Zach’s likeness (a la crutches) to help raise the money necessary to pay off all the bills.

Printed on super comfy rolled cotton, these tee-shirts are available on the Verdict Store for 15.99 plus S&H. 100% of the proceeds are dedicated to paying off Zach’s medical bills so the Verdict Crew can keep on helping the sport of lacrosse grow and gain exposure.

Just specifiy what size (S,M,L,XL) in the ‘instructions for buyer’ section upon check out.

Lacrosse Profiles: Former Michigan Men’s Lacrosse Defenseman And “Comedian” Pat Stansik Creates Music Video That Goes “Viral” (Video)

Former Michigan club lacrosse player Pat Stansik’s hilarious “I Love You Denard” music video went viral last week— it was the talk of the college football landscape.

Stansik, a 2011 Michigan alum who played on the Wolverines’ club team after transferring from Bucknell, where he played two seasons, said he had a “crazy” week that included a story in USA Today and interview on ESPNU. Lacrosse Magazine also caught up with him.

Ann Arbor comedian Pat Stansik‘s new music video for his song “I Love You Denard”—a funny pop-folk hymn to the University of Michigan’s amazing starting quarterback—is already drawing plenty of views on YouTube. And last night, he was interviewed on “UNITE,” a new late-night entertainment show on ESPNU, the cable giant’s channel focusing specifically on college sports.

MCLA Lacrosse: USC Men’s Lacrosse Returns To Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) For 2012-2013 Season After Suspension Due To Forfeiting Games In 2011

After a year away from the organization, the University of Southern California men’s lacrosse program has reapplied for admission to the MCLA for the 2013 season. The Trojans will be accepted back into the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC)– one of the 10 conferences that comprise the MCLA – on a tentative basis this spring, according to SLC president Matt Holman.

“[USC] will be a ‘provisional member’ for 2012-13,” Holman said. “Should they fulfill all required game and administrative tasks, then the membership can vote to move them to full membership for the 2013-14 season. They will not be considered for playoffs or MCLA tournament play in 2013.”

Southern Cal was ousted from the SLC after the 2011 season when they forfeited a pair of games, including failing to show up for a road game against conference rival UC Santa Barbara on Senior Day.

Non-conference games against USC in 2013 will not count toward a team’s three non-league contests necessary to be considered for an at-large berth to the national tournament and will not be considered by the MCLA selection committee, according to Doug Carl, the association’s vice president of eligibility. Carl did say that policy would be revisited in an upcoming conference call.

The return of USC isn’t a game-changer within the MCLA –the Trojans haven’t had a winning record since prior to the ’05 season – but it is a tantalizing turn of events for an institution thought to be considering adding lacrosse as a varsity sport.

Last year, USC senior associate athletic director Mark Jackson– who oversaw the addition of the varsity women’s program that will start competition in ’13 – told LaxMagazine.com’s Corey McLaughlin that men’s lacrosse was on the athletic department’s radar.

“With six Saturday games on our home schedule, 2013 will be an incredibly exciting season for our fans,” said Stealth President David Takata. “We are going to be aggressive with the enhancement of all facets of our game day experience, from promotions and giveaways to in-game entertainment. It’s going to be a special year on and off the floor for the Stealth and its fans.”
The Stealth’s opening night matchup against Rochester is the first of two meetings between the teams in 2013. The Stealth travels to Rochester on February 2. Washington will travel east just one other time during the season when it faces Philadelphia on March 9 in the first of a home-and-home series with the Wings. The Wings will be at the Comcast Arena for the regular season finale on Saturday, April 20.
In Western Division play, the burgeoning rivalry between the Stealth and Calgary Roughnecks will feature three games, including two at the Comcast Arena on Saturday, February 23 and Saturday, March 30. The Stealth also hosts the defending Western Division Champion Edmonton Rush (January 20), the Colorado Mammoth (February 9) and the Minnesota Swarm (March 3) in interdivisional action.

Only once is the Stealth forced to play a weekend doubleheader, as the team travels to Edmonton on January 25 and Minnesota the following night.  The Stealth’s complete 2013 schedule is listed below (home games in BOLD CAPS).

The most exciting line up of promotions and giveaways in Stealth history will be released in the coming weeks. For the most up to date information on the 2013 campaign visit www.stealthlax.com.
