NCAA Lacrosse: Cal Berkeley Women’s Lacrosse Opens Fall Ball Season Featuring Stanford, UC Davis, Stanford Play Day And Alumni Game

Cal Berkeley Women's Lacrosse Fall Ball 2013

The California women’s lacrosse team will be back in action this week for the start of fall ball. The Golden Bears will compete in four contests over the course of the fall portion of their schedule.
Cal opens fall ball this Friday, Sept. 27, with a scrimmage at Stanford. The Bears ended the 2013 regular season with back-to-back contests against the Cardinal, including the semifinals of the MPSF Tournament.
Following the game against Stanford, Cal will take the next two weeks off before heading to UC Davis on Saturday, Oct. 19, to face the Aggies in a three-period practice scrimmage. The Bears will return to The Farm for the Stanford Play Day on Saturday, Oct. 26. The schedule for that has not been determined yet.
The Bears will close out fall ball at home with the alumni game taking place at Witter Field on Friday, Nov. 1.


NCAA Lacrosse: Colorado Women’s Lacrosse Adds Colorado Club Team Standout Sarah Lautman To Varsity Roster; Chemical & Biological Engineering Major Scored 32 Goals As A Two-Year Starter

Colorado Women's Lacrosse Adds Sarah Lautman to 2013 Roster

University of Colorado head lacrosse coach Ann Elliott has added former CU club lacrosse standout Sarah Lautman to her first roster, bringing its total to 23 student-athletes.
Lautman, a 5-2 midfielder from Reading, Mass. joins the Buffs after spending two seasons with the CU club team. She was a four-year letter-winner in three sports at Reading Memorial High School.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Lautman majors in chemical and biological engineering.

We have gotten the opportunity to get to know her over the last year when she was a member of the CU club lacrosse team. Sarah has proven she is very driven and committed to playing at the Division I Level. She has a great attitude and work ethic. Sarah has the ability and athleticism to play many different positions for us and will add more depth to our smaller roster.”

SOPHOMORE (2013 with CU CLUB LACROSSE): Lautman was a two-year starter with the CU club lacrosse team, scoring 32 goals. Her sophomore season, the Buffs finished the season with a 7-10 overall record.

FRESHMAN (2012 with CU CLUB LACROSSE): The Buffs recorded a 13-7 record, finishing second in the Rocky Mountain Women’s Lacrosse League and entering the Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association National Tournament as the No. 5 seed.

NCAA Lacrosse: North Carolina Women’s Lacrosse Releases Fall Schedule Featuring Winthrop, Navy Tournament, Northwestern And Duke Tournament

Head coach Jenny Levy has released the University of North Carolina’s 2013 fall women’s lacrosse schedule, highlighted by scrimmages against Northwestern and Winthrop and a pair of fall tournaments hosted by Navy and Duke. The Tar Heels also will hold their annual alumnae game on Oct. 5 in Chapel Hill.

UNC will host Winthrop (4 p.m.) on Friday Oct. 4 at Finley Field in Chapel Hill, then welcome its alumnae back to campus for a scrimmage (11 a.m.) and its 2013 National Championship Celebration and Team Awards Banquet on Saturday evening at the Blue Zone in Kenan Stadium.  That day, the Carolina men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, as well as the men’s soccer program, all will welcome back alumni and their families.

On Saturday Oct. 12, the Tar Heels will take part in the U.S. Naval Academy’s tournament in Annapolis, Md.  The next day at noon in Severn, Md., UNC will scrimmage Northwestern at the Severn School.  On Saturday Oct. 26, the Tar Heels will wrap up their fall at Duke’s tournament in Durham, N.C.

Carolina won the 2013 NCAA championship with a 13-12, triple-overtime victory over Maryland in the national title game in Villanova, Pa.

Leading scorer and national player of the year Kara Cannizzaro and three other seniors are lost to graduation, but the Tar Heels will return four of their top five scorers from last season.  Levy also signed the nation’s top-rated recruiting class, which has enrolled this fall and will take the field as freshmen next spring.
