NCAA Lacrosse: Air Force Men’s Lacrosse And Notre Dame Complete Successful Weekend With Scrimmage, Ropes Course And Football Tailgate

Air Force Men's Lacrosse scrimmage with Notre Dame Fall 2013

The Air Force lacrosse team’s last weekend of fall competition was a resounding success, as the Falcons took the field against a talented Notre Dame team on Friday, Oct. 25. Air Force had an impressive showing against the Irish, who have advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals in four straight seasons and advanced to the Final Four in 2012.

Air Force Notre Dame Lacrosse“The fall season is a time to continue to come together as a team and for players to step up and fill roles,” said assistant coach Bill Wilson. “While this scrimmage was a good step forward for our team at this early point in the 2013-14 season, there is a lot of time before our regular season begins in February. The scrimmage was a good test for us to evaluate where we are as a team and what we need to do in the months ahead before our 2014 season opening game versus Denver.”

While battling on the field, the Falcons and the Irish came together off the field as well. On Saturday, Air Force helped facilitate Notre Dame’s journey through the Academy’s ropes course, while the two teams met for a pre-game tailgate before the Air Force and Notre Dame football teams faced each other on the gridiron.

Head coach Eric Seremet helped give the Irish another memorable experience before their journey back to South Bend, Ind., on Sunday, leading them on a sunrise hike up the Incline in Manitou Springs, one of the Falcons’ frequent training spots.

The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team will face another difficult schedule in the 2014 season. The Pioneers will be challenged by four teams that finished in the top-20 last season, as well as three who received votes in the final 2013 rankings. Four of these teams were selected to play in the NCAA tournament, including NCAA Champions Duke University.
Denver will also begin competition as one of the newest members of The BIG EAST, leaving the Eastern College Athletic Conference. The Pioneers are coming off their second NCAA Semifinal appearance in three seasons under legendary head coach Bill Tierney.
