The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team will play the Denver Outlaws on Saturday, Oct.19 at 1 p.m. at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in the Fifth Annual Colorado Lacrosse Showcase. The Pioneers will host their annual alumni game prior to the start of the showcase against the Outlaws.
Former Pioneers Taylor Young, Cameron Flint, Kyle Hercher, Alex Demopoulos, Chase Carraro, Chace Calkin, Andrew Lay and Dillon Roy Will be some of the players rounding out the Outlaws’ roster.
“We are very excited to once again be hosting the Denver Outlaws and other professional players,” said Denver men’s lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney. “After our outing with the Canadian National Team last weekend, we look forward to improving and learning from our mistakes. The Outlaws had a historic summer, going 14-0 in regular season play, and we are thrilled to have many of their players come back to help us complete our fall campaign.”
Fans will get the chance to see all their favorite Pioneers, including All-American Jeremy Noble (Orangeville, Ontario), as well as junior goalie Ryan LaPlante (Fort Collins, Colo.) and midfielder Erik Adamson (Anaheim Hills, Calif.)
“Our veterans always aspire to play great in this game and our freshmen need to continue to find out how to compete against the best, so it should be a challenging and rewarding day,” Tierney said. “We hope that Pioneer Lacrosse Fans come out and see how exciting the 2014 season team can be.”
The fans and students will also get the chance to see the Denver freshman class of 2014 in action, that includes 2013 Under Armor All-American Zach Miller (Stemberg, N.Y), All-American Connor Flynn (Charlotte N.C), and 2013 Adrenaline All-American and U.S Lacrosse All-American Brian Wegner (Lone, Tree Colo.)
Admission is free for the alumni game and Fifth Annual Colorado Lacrosse Showcase.
The Outlaws will be represented by 20 local professional lacrosse players and will be coached by Outlaws Assistant General Manager Jon Cohen. Following the game, the Outlaws will host their annual fall youth clinic from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on the field.
