Head Coach Sonia LaMonica has announced a challenging 16-game slate for the back-to-back defending Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champion Towson University women’s lacrosse team in 2014. The non-conference schedule will see the Tigers battle six teams that finished 2013 ranked in the IWLCA top 20, including the top three teams from that final poll.
“This is an exciting schedule, one that is going to challenge our team every step of the way,” said LaMonica. “These challenges will battle-test us and give our players the best opportunity to learn, grow and become stronger as we work to finish the season ranked among the elite teams in the country.”
For the second time in the last three years, the Tigers will open the season at home. Towson hosts local rival, UMBC in Johnny Unitas ® Stadium on February 19 at 4 p.m. The Tigers have won two straight in the series. Towson remains home to host Georgetown on February 22. The Hoyas, who finished last year ranked No. 8 in the IWLCA poll, hold a slim 10-8 lead in the all-time series after a 13-10 victory last year.
