NCAA Lacrosse: Siena Men’s Lacrosse Releases 2014 Schedule Featuring Syracuse, Hobart, St. John’s, Hartford, Detroit, Hofstra And Albany

Third-year Siena Lacrosse Head Coach John Svec has released his program’s 2014 schedule. The Saints will face a challenging slate, with 10 of their 14 regular season contests coming away from home and three games scheduled against Inside Lacrosse Faceoff Yearbook Preseason Top-20 squads.
“Our goal each year is to prepare for our conference opponents by scheduling the best competition available,” explained Svec. “Our non-conference schedule is full of talented programs that will challenge us each week.”
The Saints open their 2014 campaign with their first five games coming outside the Capital Region. The season faces off Feb. 9 with a date against 2013 NCAA Finalist Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. The Orange are ranked No. 2 in the Inside Lacrosse Faceoff Yearbook Preseason Top-20.

Sports Authority Field at Mile High will host one of the 2015 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Quarterfinals will be played at, the NCAA announced Wednesday. The bid to host the event was submitted by Denver Sports, an affiliate of VISIT DENVER, in partnership with the University of Denver Athletics and Recreation, Sports Authority Field at Mile High, the Denver Broncos and Denver Outlaws. The lacrosse selection continues Denver’s growing reputation as one of the great lacrosse cities of America. In the last nine years, Denver has hosted three Major League Lacrosse All-Star Games, two National Lacrosse League All-Star Games, and will in 2014 host the FIL World Lacrosse Championships. “We are thrilled the NCAA has entrusted Denver to host this event,” said Ken Chin, executive director of Denver Sports. "This decision is a testament to the hard work put forth by our city’s grassroots lacrosse community, Denver’s two professional lacrosse teams – the Denver Outlaws and the Colorado Mammoth – and to the lacrosse program built by the University of Denver Pioneers head lacrosse coach and Hall of Famer Bill Tierney." Assisting in the bid was Bill Tierney, the legendary head lacrosse coach of the University of Denver Pioneers, who said, “Everyone associated with lacrosse in Denver should be very excited about this announcement, and I thank all that worked so hard to make it happen. The opportunity to host such meaningful Division I games in the NCAA Tournament is something we will embrace to make the experience second to none. Our guests, visitors and television viewers will assuredly get to find out why Denver is truly ‘The Lacrosse Capital of the West.”

UMBC Head Lacrosse Coach Don Zimmerman announced the Retrievers’ 2014 spring schedule today, which features an early four-game homestand and home contests against all three America East opponents which competed in the 2013 league championships.
The early home slate is highlighted by a Saturday, March 8 contest versus Johns Hopkins University. The Blue Jays will visit UMBC for just the third time in twelve overall meetings.
“Our 2014 season promises to be an exciting one. Along with our always competitive America East Conference opponents Albany, Stony Brook, Binghamton, Hartford and Vermont, our out-of-conference schedule includes traditional-in-state rivals Maryland, Hopkins, Towson and Mt. St. Mary’s,” Zimmerman said. “In addition, the team looks forward to a tough road game at High Point as well as hosting first-time opponents in Monmouth, Richmond and Mercer.”
