The University of Pennsylvania’s head coach of men’s lacrosse, Mike Murphy, has announced the Quakers’ 2014 schedule. The Quakers will face another daunting slate that features eight teams ranked in the Inside Lacrosse preseason poll. Penn — ranked 11th in the Inside Lacrosse preseason poll — will open with the defending NCAA champion, face two of the other three semifinalists from last year’s tournament, and meet five 2013 NCAA teams in total.
“We are very excited about our 2014 schedule,” said Murphy, whose program boasted the No. 1 strength of schedule following the 2012 season and the No. 2 SOS following last season. “We have added a playoff team in Towson, along with St. John’s who has one of the best attack units in the country. So we will again have a very challenging road ahead of us this spring. We want to find out how good we can become, and the best way to do that is to play the best teams out there.”
