NCAA Lacrosse: Denver Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Louisville In 12-7 On March 1; Cardinals Use 4-0 Second Half Run To Pull Away From Pioneers

Denver Women's Lacrosse vs Louisville

University of Denver senior Meredith Harris’ (Middleburg, Va.) hat trick was not enough to overcome Louisville as the Pioneers fall to the Cardinals 12-7 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Senior Jenn Etzel (Bel Air, Md.) brought Denver (2-1) within a goal of Louisville (4-1) after scoring with 20:04 left in the second half. However, Louisville pulled away after a 4-0 run, bringing the score to 11-6 with 13:04 left in regulation.
“I’m disappointed with the loss, but there is a lot we can take away from today’s game,” said head coach Liza Kelly. “We faced a very strong team. I am proud of how hard our team worked today. We just need to clean up a few areas moving forward on the season.”
Harris placed each of her four shots on goal to go along with two draw controls and a groundball.
Sophomore Monica Lucas (Kensington, Md.) opened the scoring just a minute into the game after a feed from junior Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.) Remenapp finished the game with three assists, bringing her season total to eight.
Redshirt junior Hannah Hook (Arnold, Md.) made seven saves on the day. Denver successfully converted 11-of-13 clear attempts and had nine turnovers to Louisville’s 13.
Denver opens a two game homestand this week when Vanderbilt comes to Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Wednesday at 2 p.m. MT.
