One week after knocking off Cathedral Catholic (Calif.) in overtime, Torrey Pines beat former No. 1 St. Ignatius (Calif.), The Falcons followed that up with another impressive, 10-6 victory over De LaSalle (Calif.).
2. St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.), 3-1 The Wildcats fell to former No. 2 Torrey Pines in one of the early marquee matchups of the regular season. St. Ignatius rebounded with a 19-8 win over Coronado (Calif.).
3. Arapahoe (Colo.), 4-0 The Warriors took down Southlake (Texas) 9-6 and Littleton (Colo.) 17-2 this week.
4. La Costa Canyon (Calif.), 1-0 The Mavericks cruised to a 13-6 victory over Rancho Bernardo (Calif.) in their opener. La Costa Canyon takes on Westview (Calif.) this week before a big showdown with Cathedral Catholic (Calif.).
5. Bellevue (Wash.), 1-0 The Wolverines knocked off in-state foe Bainbridge Island (Wash.), 10-4 to open the season. Hank Bethke (Ohio State) had four goals and two assists. Bellevue faces its first road test this week against Woodinville (Wash.).
6. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 3-0 The Bruins are in solid early form, beating Rock Canyon (Colo.) and Overland (Colo.) to open the season, and handing Wheat Ridge (Colo.) a loss on Monday.
7. St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Calif.), 2-0 The Tartans opened the season with a 7-3 victory over Yorba Linda (Calif.) and beat St. John’s (Texas) 17-4.
8. Cathedral Catholic (Calif.), 2-1 The Dons bounced back from a heart-breaking 7-6 overtime loss to No. 1 Torrey Pines with a 13-7 victory over Poway (Calif.) and a 12-9 win over Palos Verdes (Calif.). Cathedral Catholic plays Rancho Bernardo (Calif.) on Tuesday.
9. Corona del Mar (Calif.), 2-0 The Sea Kings blew past University Irvine (Calif.) 19-0 in the season opener and beat St. John’s (Texas) 14-6. They play Fort Collins (Colo.) Unified on Wednesday.
10. The Bishop’s School (Calif.), 0-0 The Knights open the season with a tough test against J Serra Catholic (Calif.). Bishops has the depth and talent to make a deep playoff run this season.
