Colorado College returns to the postseason on Wednesday when it travels to No. 10 Washington College for the first round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
The game at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium will begin at 4 p.m. ET.
CC, which improved to 13-4 with a 14-7 victory at Whittier College in its regular-season finale on Saturday, earned an at-large berth in the 29-team field. The Tigers are making their second appearance in the national tournament.
The Shoremen (12-4) also earned an at-large berth. Washington dropped a 14-7 decision to No. 2 Dickinson College in a semifinal game of the Centennial Conference championship last Wednesday.
The winner of Wednesday’s contest advances to the second round on May 11 to face either Stevenson University (17-2) or Christopher Newport University (8-8).
Washington is 8-1 at home this season, with its only loss occurring on April 13 against Dickinson by a 15-10 count. The Shoremen bounced back to defeat Salisbury University, 7-6.
Colorado College dropped a 9-4 decision at Salisbury on March 20 and fell 11-10 at Dickinson two days later on a goal with 40 seconds remaining in the game.
The Tigers are 6-4 on the road, with three of the losses occurring on the East Coast in a span of five days over spring break.
Since a 9-8 loss at Marymount University on March 24, CC has reeled off eight consecutive victories during which the Tigers outscored their opponents 163-33.
The national quarterfinals will be played on Wednesday, May 15, with the semifinals occurring four days later at campus sites. The
Division III national championship game is scheduled for Sunday, May 26, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
