Orange County High School Girls Lacrosse: 2010 All-County Girls Lacrosse Team Announced


FIRST TEAM

Attack

Courtney Valdez, Foothill, attack: The sophomore helped the Knights reach the Orange County title match against Los Alamitos. Valdez had five goals in the title match. On the season, she had 72 goals and 21 assists. Valdez, a first team All-Sea View League player, also had 47 groundballs.

Morgan Chaney, Trabuco Hills, attack: The senior scored 59 goals and had 24 assists, earning all-Sea View League first-team honors for the Mustangs, who were ranked in the top 10 in the county for most of the year. Chaney also had 31 groundballs. She is undecided about where she will attend college next year, said Coach Scott Mann.

Tracy Paulson, Los Alamitos, attack: The senior helped the Griffins win their second consecutive county and Southern California titles. She had 82 goals and 23 assists and scooped up 54 ground balls. Paulson, a first-team All-Sunset League player, also had 19 takeaways.

Kristin Robbins, Los Alamitos, defense: The senior was a key defender on the Griffins’ championship squad this past season, earning first team All-Sunset League honors. Robbins had 41 groundballs and 51 takeaways for the Griffins. Robbins also had seven goals and three assists.

Amiya Moretta, Los Alamitos, defense: The senior, a first team All-Sunset League player, was instrumental in the Griffins championship year. She had 49 groundballs and 41 take-aways. Moretta also had two goals and four assists for the Griffins.

M.J. Boud, San Clemente, defense: The sophomore was one of the outstanding players in the South Coast League this season, earning all-league honors. She had 76 groundballs and 44 takeaways for the Tritons. Boud was also an offensive force, scoring 53 goals and recording three assists.

Danica Kristiansen, El Toro, goalie: The junior helped the Chargers to a successful season in the Sea View League and a top five county ranking for most of the year. Kristiansen, an all-league player, had 203 saves and saved 59 percent of the shots taken against her.

Haleigh Cummings, JSerra, midfielder: The junior rolled up some big numbers to earn all-Trinity League honors. She had 94 goals and 15 assists. Cummings was also a force on defense for the Lions, recording 63 groundbalsl and 22 takeaways.

Shaina Denny, Los Alamitos, midfielder: The senior had some big games in the Griffins’ championship run. The all-county lacrosse MVP scored 61 goals and had 37 assists for Los Alamitos. Denny, a first team All-Sunset League player, also had 45 groundballs and 25 takeaways.

Jacky Craycraft, El Toro, midfielder: Craycraft, a senior, helped the Chargers through a successful Sea View League season and solid run in the Division I playoffs. Craycraft scored 61 goals and had 34 assists. A first team all-league player, Craycraft also had 49 groundballs.

Megan Armes, Mission Viejo, midfielder: Armes helped the Diablos pull off a first-round playoff victory over Trabuco Hills and advance to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs for the first time. She was consistent all season for the team. Armes scored 71 goals and had seven assists. Armes also had 112 ground balls.

Jack Cranston, Santa Margarita, attack: The senior had 86 goals and 39 assists for 125 points along with 99 groundballs. He was named the offensive player of the year in the Trinity League. He is headed to Vermont to play lacrosse next year.

Mike Marchand, Los Alamitos, attack: The junior was named first team All-Sunset League and had 114 points (59 goals and 55 assists), an average of 5.4 points a game. He also had 68 groundballs.

Ryan Mix, Corona del Mar, attack: Mix, who is headed to Notre Dame, helped the Sea Kings reach the Orange County championship game. He scored 66 goals and had 36 assists despite being out with an injury for three games.

Brett Overend, Laguna Hills, attack: A first-team all-league player, Overend was the Hawks top player, with 86 goals and 32 assists and wound up with 212 career points.

C.J. Jacobs, Los Alamitos, midfielder: Jacobs, who was an All-County selection last year, was first team All-Sunset League selection, with 65 goals and 44 assists for 109 total points. He also had 108 groundballs, an average of 5.8 per game.

Chris Cole, Foothill, midfielder: Cole was a key player on Foothill’s Southern California championship squad, scoring 42 goals and notching 14 assists and picking up 82 groundballs.

Eddie Dainko, Foothill, longstick midfielder: Dainko, a first-team All-Sea View League player, had 126 groundballs and “always took the top defensive assignments,” said Coach Jon Fox.

Duke deLancellotti, San Clemente, midfielder: The senior, a first-team All-South Coast League selection, had 30 goals and 45 assists along with 65 groundballs.

Kenny Smith, Los Alamitos, defense: The senior, a first-team All-Sunset League selection, hauled in 91 groundballs for a 4.3 average for the third-ranked Griffins.

Richard Song, Foothill, defense: Song was a key player on the Knights’ Southern California championship team with 23 groundballs. Coach Jon Fox describes him as the “best Foothill” defenseman.

Jeremy Baileys, St. Margaret’s, defense: Baileys helped the Tartars notch a share of the Trinity League title, recording 102 groundballs and 18 take-aways.

Brendan Yount, JSerra, defense: Yount, who has received a scholarship to Bellarmine University, was a tough defender, recording 103 groundballs. The JSerra captain, the defensive MVP of the Trinity League, also had three goals and two assists.

Andrew Noto, Corona del Mar, goalie: Noto had 202 saves and a save percentage of 72 percent. He is headed to UC Santa Barbara and was recruited by more than 20 programs, according to Coach Mark Todd.

Nick Carrasco, El Toro, goalie: A first-team all-Sea View League player, Carrrasco helped the Chargers remain earn a No. 4 ranking in Orange County.
