NCAA Lacrosse: Colorado Women’s Lacrosse Releases 2013 Fall Schedule Featuring Denver, Navy, Boston College, Harvard And Delaware

The inaugural University of Colorado lacrosse team will play three games and two tournaments for its fall exhibition season, head coach Ann Elliott announced Friday.
“I could not be more excited for the opportunity our team has this fall to compete against so many great teams,” Elliott said. “Our girls are very excited to play in their first collegiate game together and our program’s first as well. Our staff is really looking forward to finally have all our players on one team and seeing where we are at as a team. Each game we have is a great opportunity for us to challenge ourselves, gain experience and get better as a team.”
The Buffaloes open with a trip to Denver on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The Pioneers closed last season with an 18-3 record and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. DU notched perfect 8-0 marks in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and on their home turf.

NCAA Lacrosse: Cal Berkeley Women’s Lacrosse Opens Fall Ball Season Featuring Stanford, UC Davis, Stanford Play Day And Alumni Game

The California women’s lacrosse team will be back in action this week for the start of fall ball. The Golden Bears will compete in four contests over the course of the fall portion of their schedule.
Cal opens fall ball this Friday, Sept. 27, with a scrimmage at Stanford. The Bears ended the 2013 regular season with back-to-back contests against the Cardinal, including the semifinals of the MPSF Tournament.
Following the game against Stanford, Cal will take the next two weeks off before heading to UC Davis on Saturday, Oct. 19, to face the Aggies in a three-period practice scrimmage. The Bears will return to The Farm for the Stanford Play Day on Saturday, Oct. 26. The schedule for that has not been determined yet.
The Bears will close out fall ball at home with the alumni game taking place at Witter Field on Friday, Nov. 1.


NCAA Lacrosse: North Carolina Women’s Lacrosse Releases Fall Schedule Featuring Winthrop, Navy Tournament, Northwestern And Duke Tournament

Head coach Jenny Levy has released the University of North Carolina’s 2013 fall women’s lacrosse schedule, highlighted by scrimmages against Northwestern and Winthrop and a pair of fall tournaments hosted by Navy and Duke. The Tar Heels also will hold their annual alumnae game on Oct. 5 in Chapel Hill.

UNC will host Winthrop (4 p.m.) on Friday Oct. 4 at Finley Field in Chapel Hill, then welcome its alumnae back to campus for a scrimmage (11 a.m.) and its 2013 National Championship Celebration and Team Awards Banquet on Saturday evening at the Blue Zone in Kenan Stadium.  That day, the Carolina men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, as well as the men’s soccer program, all will welcome back alumni and their families.

On Saturday Oct. 12, the Tar Heels will take part in the U.S. Naval Academy’s tournament in Annapolis, Md.  The next day at noon in Severn, Md., UNC will scrimmage Northwestern at the Severn School.  On Saturday Oct. 26, the Tar Heels will wrap up their fall at Duke’s tournament in Durham, N.C.

Carolina won the 2013 NCAA championship with a 13-12, triple-overtime victory over Maryland in the national title game in Villanova, Pa.

Leading scorer and national player of the year Kara Cannizzaro and three other seniors are lost to graduation, but the Tar Heels will return four of their top five scorers from last season.  Levy also signed the nation’s top-rated recruiting class, which has enrolled this fall and will take the field as freshmen next spring.

The Navy women’s lacrosse squad will open its 2013 fall exhibition Friday and the Mids will play ten games during the fall season. The highlight of Navy’s fall exhibition schedule will be contest that pits Navy against Team USA on October 12 at Navy Marine-Corps Memorial Stadium (4 pm).

The Mids will start the fall season on Friday at Georgetown at 7 p.m.

Navy will host George Washington on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. the following weekend. Then on Saturday, the Mids will have an alumni match at 8:30 a.m. on Rip Miller Field.

Navy will host its fifth annual fall invitational on October 12, which will feature 14 teams. Of the 14 teams, eight competed in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, including the defending national champion North Carolina Tar Heels. The Mids will play UNC, Colorado, Syracuse and Notre Dame. Navy, UNC, Syracuse and Notre Dame were all NCAA Tournament teams this past spring.

Following its contest against Notre Dame, Navy will play Team USA that same day at 4 p.m. Then Navy will take on Denver on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m at Farragut Turf.

The Mids will wrap up their fall schedule against Johns Hopkins and Virginia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Rip Miller Field. Navy will play JHU at 10 am and close out with Virginia Tech at noon.

The Stanford women’s lacrosse team will play the 2013 World Cup champion United States national team in a game that will be aired live on ESPN3 on Oct. 13.
The game highlights the Cardinal’s fall schedule, released Friday. Stanford plays host to California in a fall opener Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Maryland for the Navy Fall Invitational (Oct. 12) and the U.S. contest at Towson University.

The game against Stanford is one of four the U.S. will play over the Oct. 12-13 weekend, all against 2013 NCAA tournament teams. The others are Navy, Georgetown, and Towson. Last year, Stanford played host to the U.S. team. One connection between the two: Stanford head coach Amy Bokker is a U.S. assistant.

Stanford next will return home for its alumnae game (Oct. 19), and the Stanford Play Day, involving six schools in a series of short games on Oct. 26 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.  The fall season concludes Nov. 1 with an intrasquad matchup (4 p.m.).

Stanford is coming off a 14-6 season that featured the program’s first NCAA tournament victory – an 8-7 triumph over Notre Dame. Stanford won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament title for the eighth time in nine years.

Stanford’s Rachel Ozer and Anna Kim are returning IWLCA All-Region players and were among six Cardinal named to the All-MPSF team.

NCAA Lacrosse: Denver Women’s Lacrosse Announces Fall 2013 Schedule Featuring Colorado, Regis, Navy, Colorado State And Alumnae Game

The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team will play five games and a tournament for its fall exhibition season, head coach Liza Kelly announced today.
The Pioneers open the fall slate hosting Colorado (Oct. 2) and Regis (Oct. 6).
Denver will then travel to Annapolis, Md., for the Navy Tournament (Oct. 12) and a matchup at Navy (Oct. 13).
DU will host an Alumnae Game (Oct. 18) prior to wrapping up its fall schedule against Colorado State (Oct. 26). Both games will be played at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
“We are excited to build upon last season’s success with a busy fall schedule,” Kelly said. “We are looking forward to heading back to the Naval Academy for their tournament and to see how we measure up against some talented opponents.”
The Denver women’s lacrosse team finished the 2013 season with an 18-3 record and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers went undefeated at home and had a perfect 8-0 record in the regular season against MPSF opponents.
