Rabil said he’s joining the firm’s Personalities & Properties division and will be represented by agent Erin Kane, whose clients include Olympic softball pitcher Jennie Finch. The division includes Nascar driver Jimmie Johnson and former National Football League coaches Bill Cowher, Brian Billick and Herm Edwards. Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps is also an Octagon client.

“Octagon has a track record with other professional athletes whose sport has a growing participation at the youth level but low visibility at the pro level,” said Rabil, who had been represented by Baltimore-based attorney Ira Rainess.

“We envision having Paul alongside top athletes in other sports. It comes down to personality that captures imagination,” said Kane, adding that her first order of business is to perform a brand analysis of the two-time Major League Lacrosse Most Valuable Player. “Paul brings lacrosse out of the niche area.”

Major League Lacrosse: Boston Cannons Superstar Middie Paul Rabil Is Making Sixth-Straight MLL All-Star Game Appearance On July 13 In Charlotte, NC

Major League Lacrosse All-Star Paul Rabil

Paul Rabil, who graduated from the prestigious Johns Hopkins university in 2008, was one of the most highly regarded prospects in draft history. Rabil’s incredible athleticism combined with his uncanny ability to shoot on the run made him the number one overall pick in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft.
Boston immediately knew that they had drafted a star. Rabil’s performance in his rookie campaign earned him a spot on his first All-Star roster, a trend that has continued throughout his career. With his selection to the 2013 All-Star game, Rabil will make an appearance on his sixth ASG roster, a Cannons’ franchise record for a single player.
Throughout his career, Rabil has been able to put up some very impressive numbers. The perennial All-Star has a combined 281 career points in 65 appearances for Boston.
In 2013 Rabil has been living up to his expectations as one of the best shooting midfielders in the MLL. Rabil’s shooting percentage is currently .236, his highest since 2010 when he finished the season scoring on 26 percent of his shots. The former collegiate All-American has carried the Cannons’ offensive load for much of the first half of the season, Rabil is currently tied with Drew Snider for fourth in the league in scoring behind Chriis Bocklet, Kevin Crowley and Brendan Mundorf.
Rabil’s offensive numbers are the highest when he distributes the ball well, something that he hasn’t had going in the first half of the season. Rabil’s teammate, fellow All-Star Mike Stone, has contributed to the Cannons’ scoring attack and has helped right the ship after a rocky start to begin the year.
Rabil is the consummate professional on the field and is now widely considered to be the best player in the league. With three points this weekend against Charlotte, the Cannons’ All-Star will pass Conor Gill to become Boston’s all time leading scorer.

Major League Lacrosse: Boston Cannons Middie Paul Rabil Named “2012 Offensive Player Of The Year” For Third Time In Four Years

Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced Wednesday that midfielder Paul Rabil has been named as the 2012 Warrior MLL Offensive Player of the Year, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. The award was based on the votes submitted by the head coach and general manager of each of the League’s eight teams. “I’m very honored and humbled to have earned the Offensive Player of the Year award. It’s always rewarding to receive individual achievements from all the hard work I put in each year,” says Rabil. “That said, no matter the amount of work I put into my game, this is a team sport, and without such tremendous players I have the honor to play with each week, I wouldn’t be in this position. Thanks to all the coaches and GM’s in this league that have voted, and I’m eager to continue to compete at the highest level.” It is the third time in four years that Rabil has been named as the Warrior Offensive Player of the Year, including each of the last two seasons. He also becomes the second player in MLL history to earn the award three times, joining attackman John Grant, Jr. Grant earned the award in 2001, 2007 and 2008 as a member of the Rochester Rattlers.
